Privacy notice
LAST UPDATED 29 OCTOBER 2026
This explains what personal data we collect through innioffgrid.com, why we collect it, and what you can tell us to do with it.
It is written to be read rather than skimmed past. If anything is unclear, email us and we will explain it.
Who we are
INNI Offgrid is a business operated by Tom Bowden-Eyre as a sole trader in Great Britain. We are the data controller for everything described here, which means we decide how your data is used and we are responsible for keeping it safe.
Contact: hello@innioffgrid.com
We intend to incorporate as a limited company. When we do, this notice will be updated with the company name, number and registered address, and the company will take over as controller.
What we collect
When you join the waiting list
- Your name
- Your work email address
- Your company name
- Your primary sector
- Whether you ticked the box asking for development updates
If you complete the optional survey
Your answers about the power you use, the runtime you need, the voltages and outlets you require, how you would charge and move a unit, how many units you might want, and what you use at the moment and what it costs you. If you tell us you are open to a call, we also collect your phone number.
Every question except your email address is optional. Leave anything blank that you would rather not answer.
When you simply visit
Our hosting provider counts visits and page views without setting cookies or storing anything that identifies you. See Cookies and analytics below.
We do not ask for special category data — anything about your health, ethnicity, beliefs, political opinions, sex life or biometrics — and we do not want it. Please do not put any in a free-text survey answer.
This is a business product and the site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Why we collect it
| What we do | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Send you development updates, launch pricing and early-bird offers | Because you asked to be kept informed | Consent. You ticked a box, and you can withdraw at any time. |
| Use your survey answers to shape the specification | To build something the market actually needs | Legitimate interests — developing our product. We work from the answers in aggregate wherever we can. |
| Reply to something you have sent us | To answer your question | Legitimate interests — responding to someone who contacted us. |
| Keep a record of your consent | To show we had permission to email you | Legal obligation. |
Where we rely on legitimate interests we have weighed it against your privacy. We think it is fair, because you gave us the information voluntarily and for that exact purpose. You can object at any time.
Cookies and analytics
Our site analytics do not use cookies and do not create any persistent identifier for you. Visits are counted using a one-way hash that is reset daily, so we can see how many people read a page but cannot tell who they were or follow them from one day to the next.
We use no advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels and no cross-site tracking, and we share nothing with advertising networks. That is why you do not see a cookie banner — we have nothing to ask your permission for.
The one exception is our survey, which runs on Tally. If you open it, Tally stores an identifier in your browser so that a part-finished form is still there if you come back to it. That is for the form to work, nothing more.
Who else handles it
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.
We do use service providers who handle data on our behalf, under terms that require them to protect it and use it only for what we have asked:
| Provider | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Framer | Hosts this website, handles waiting list form submissions and counts visits | Live |
| Tally | Collects survey responses. Based and hosted in the EU | Live |
| Microsoft | Provides our email, so anything you send us is stored there | Live |
| Airtable | Will store and organise registrations and survey responses | Planned |
| A mailing list provider | Will send the development updates and manage the list. We will name it here before the first one goes out | Planned |
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Some providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law allows, such as an adequacy decision or the International Data Transfer Agreement. Ask us if you want the current arrangement for a particular provider.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Waiting list details | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or three years with no contact from you, whichever comes first |
| Survey answers | Up to three years, after which we keep only anonymised findings that cannot identify you |
| Correspondence | Two years after the matter is closed |
| Consent records | As long as we hold your data, plus one year |
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct anything wrong or incomplete
- Delete it, where we have no overriding reason to keep it
- Restrict how we use it while a concern is sorted out
- Transfer it to you or someone else in a portable format
- Stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent at any time, which stops the marketing email
Email hello@innioffgrid.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we are not handing your data to someone else. You can also just reply to any email from us and ask.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Coming to us first does not affect that right.
Security
Your data sits on reputable hosted services with access limited to those who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you have given us, and we will tell you and the ICO if there is a breach that puts you at risk.
Changes
We will update this notice when what we do changes. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will email the waiting list rather than leaving you to notice.
